What is Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance?

Guaranteed issue life insurance is a type of whole life insurance that is available to people with serious health issues. These policies usually offer a death benefit of up to $25,000 and they do not require a medical exam or screening for approval.

While $25,000 may be enough for older applicants who only need to cover the cost of their final expenses, most applicants with young families need more financial protection. The other downside to these policies is that they usually have a two-year waiting period.

During the waiting period, if the insured passes away from a health-related issue, their beneficiary will not receive the policy's full death benefit. Instead, their loved one's will receive a refund for all of the premiums paid into the policy, plus interest.

How Do I Purchase More Than $25,000 of Guaranteed Acceptance Life Insurance?

Most guaranteed acceptance providers limit the amount of coverage they offer to $25,000 per person. If you need more coverage, there could be other options available to you.

What If I'm Not Working or Collecting Disability?

If you are unemployed or disabled, you may be able to qualify for up to $40,000 of guaranteed acceptance life insurance with the Great Western Insurance Company. To purchase this policy you must be able to perform you own activities of daily living like eating and getting dressed.

In addition, this policy requires a few health questions and it is only available to applicants that can answer "No" to the following questions. Please note, if your condition was diagnosed more than two years ago, you should qualify for coverage.

1. In the last two years, have you been diagnosed by a licensed medical doctor as terminally ill, been in hospice, been confined to or been advised to be confined to a hospital or nursing home for more than five days?

2. In the last two years, been prescribed medication for, or treated by a healthcare provider for any of the following diseases: cancer (other than basal cell carcinoma), tumor, insulin-dependent diabetes, or any disorder or the blood, kidney, lung, brain, heart, circulatory system or liver?

If you cannot honestly answer "No" to both of these questions, and you are not working at least 20 hours at week, you can still qualify for up to $100,000 of coverage, by buying more than one guaranteed issue life insurance policy.

Buying Multiple Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance Policies

If you're not working currently and were diagnosed with a serious health issue within the last two years, don't fret, you still have options. While most providers will limit you to $25,000 with their company, this doesn't prevent you from buying a policy from more than one insurer.

Top-rated companies including Gerber Life, American General, and Mutual of Omaha offer traditional guaranteed acceptance life insurance without asking any medical questions or requiring an exam. To instantly compare rates from these providers and many others, please use our quote form below.

How Do I Apply for Guaranteed Acceptance Life Insurance?

Applying for guaranteed life insurance is easier than purchasing other forms of life insurance because there is no underwriting. No medical exams, cognitive tests, or health questions are required, so most policies are approved and issued in less than 24 hours.

You will also need to provide some basic information about yourself and your beneficiary to get started. Here is the information you'll want to have ready before you apply or call:

Your Monthly Budget

Before you apply for any type of life insurance, make sure to consider your monthly budget. A policy that is affordable is more likely to lapse due to non-payment, and then you could be stuck without coverage when you need it the most.

Your Beneficiary

Your life insurance beneficiary is the person who will collect the death benefit from your policy when you pass away. You can also list your estate, a charity, trust, or business, but this is less common. Most people choose their spouse or the family member that will coordinate their end of life services.

Contact Information

To apply for any type of life insurance, you'll need to provide some basic information to confirm your identity. In addition to your full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number, you'll also need to provide your social security number.

This is to help prevent fraud and money laundering. It also prevents someone from purchasing an insurance policy on someone else's life without them knowing about it.

Payment Method

Most guaranteed issue life insurance policies are approved and issued within 24 hours, so you'll need to provide a payment when you apply. All of the providers accept checking or savings account for monthly withdrawals, and a handful of providers will accept debit or credit cards.

Unfortunately, all of the life insurance companies we represent have stopped accepting money orders and cashier's checks. However, some providers offer a slight discount to clients that set up auto-withdrawal from their bank account.

Who Are the Best Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance Companies?

There are dozens of guaranteed acceptance insurance providers, but they are not all the same. And unfortunately, the companies that advertise the most, also tend to be the most expensive. Celebrity endorsers and TV commercials are expensive, and these costs are passed on to the consumer.

If you are working at least 20 hours a week, we recommend purchasing a policy that offers full and immediate coverage. To get a quote for up to $100,000 of guaranteed issue life insurance without a medical exam or health questions, request a quote below, or call us at 855-247-9555.
