Top No Exam Life Insurance Companies

Most life insurance policies require a medical exam for approval, and some companies will only issue coverage to someone in good health.

Even common health conditions like high blood pressure can prevent you from getting a life insurance policy from some providers.

But don’t fret, thankfully some life insurance companies offer no exam life insurance plans to people who are in less than perfect health.

Why should you choose no exam?

The first thought that comes to mind is convenience. Skipping the exam is the most convenient option for anyone with a busy schedule.

The free medical exam for life insurance takes about a half an hour, and it needs to be scheduled a week in advance. We understand that this is almost impossible for many executives, parents, truck drivers, First-Responders, etc.

And convenience aside, we are living a global pandemic.

It’s a time when you should avoid any unnecessary face-to-face interaction when possible.

On the bright side, Covid-19 has caused the life insurance companies to simplify their application process and increase the amount of coverage they’re willing to offer without an exam.

If you’ve held off on buying life insurance, ironically, you’ve picked the perfect time to apply for a no-exam policy.

As always, if you have any questions, our experts are here to help. We represent more than 50 life insurance providers to make sure our clients’ are always matched with their best option.

What is no exam life insurance?

No exam life insurance works just like a typical term life insurance policy. The only difference is that it doesn’t require a medical exam for approval.

Your application for will be accepted or declined based on:

  • your answers to some medical questions
  • recent or current medications listed in your prescription history
  • serious health issues you have been diagnosed or treated for

What are the pros?

You don’t need to take a medical exam.

You can purchase it online or over the phone.

To apply, all you need to do is provide some identifying information and answer a few health questions.

Are there any cons?

It can be a little more expensive than traditional term life insurance.

These policies also have age restrictions, and the older you are, generally the less coverage available.

It’s also important to note that only a few dozen providers are willing to offer no exam life insurance to people over 50, and only a handful of those offer coverage to applicants over 60.

Our independent agency represents dozens of life insurance companies to make sure our clients are matched with the best policy available, regardless of their health or age.

Underwriting Process

The approval or underwriting process for this type of coverage is much faster than insurance policies that require a medical exam.

Instead of waiting for the results of your medical exam, most policies are approved within a few days, not weeks.

When you apply, you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire about your health history. You also need to provide some personal information to prove your identity.

Anything else I need to know?

In addition to this data, insurance companies will gather more information about you from 3rd party sources including:

  • your medical records
  • pharmacy reports
  • medical insurance bureau
  • your driving record
  • criminal history

This information is electronically reviewed by the insurance company before they approve or decline your application. If you have an unfavorable health history, some carriers will offer an increased rate while others may turn you away.

Working with an independent agency can save you money and decrease your chances of being declined. By working with dozens of providers, we’ll help you find the best policy available.

How can I apply?

The application process is very simple, you can apply for no exam life insurance online or with the help of a licensed agent over the phone.

All you need to do is answer some questions about your lifestyle and health.

With most companies, the application only takes a few minutes to complete, and some companies even offer immediate coverage.

If you’re not in excellent health or have an unfavorable medical history, don’t be discouraged. You can probably qualify for a policy from at least one of our providers.

Will the insurance company really find out about my medical condition?

Our advice to you is answer all of the questions honestly. If you’re currently treating a serious health issue, it won’t be able to hide it from the company you decide to apply with.

Being upfront with your agent will save you time and money. Our experts have access to each company’s guidelines, allowing us to determine who is the best fit for your health profile.
